Credit Cards Are NOT the Answer!
Hi, it’s Stacey!
I decided to do Bank of Mom and Dad because I really wanted to become financially responsible and get out of debt! I figured this would be the perfect opportunity. I had so much fun on the show…even though some of the things I had to do were hard and embarrassing, I learned very valuable lessons from them, so I’m glad I did them!
Since the show, I have picked up more hours of bartending and also got a nanny job. I am making a lot more money which has allowed me to make TWO car payments. I am now current on my loan and continuing to prove to my grandmother that I can do this!! I also opened up a checking and savings account that I keep money in and use it to pay my bills. I keep track of all my account’s activity online and I know where all my money goes.
I have cut down on entertainment spending a LOT by not going out as much, or by watching what I spend when I am out. I no longer buy Roxie clothes or dress her and I can tell she is much happier now. I’m currently keeping money in my savings to pay off my debt. I think I am doing really well with my budget…I’m not perfect yet, but I have made some drastic improvements!
If I could give advice to any young girls thinking about living the glamorous life…DONT DO IT! Credit cards are NOT the answer! Go to school, get a degree, get a good stable job and EARN those nice things. That way, you won’t be paying for them for the rest of your life!
I was really nervous to do this on TV and have all my friends see what I am going through…but it was sooo worth it. THANK YOU BANK OF MOM AND DAD!!
