I Am a Bit of a Chameleon…

On to another adventure!
I definitely love the outdoors! I love boating and being around water. It is so calm and relaxing. I am not afraid to rough it in any way or fashion. With a crazy career schedule, it is so nice to retreat from the fast life. I think the simple pleasures in life are often the most fun!
Growing up, I was a tomboy until about 6th grade. I always hung with my brother and the boys in the neighborhood. Some of my fondest memories are playing outside in the sprinkler, catching bugs, digging in the dirt, and riding bikes. However, the one thing that creeps me out is worms! I cannot touch them, they are so slimy and disgusting! Thank goodness Kellie was there — she’s always one to take charge in situations, she did a great job of helping us with the worms. That’s why we call her Momma Belle!
I think my style is always evolving. I am a bit of a chameleon, and get bored easily. I think that is the best part of clothing, expressing yourself and your mood. I am usually willing to try something new (even Shea’s clothes). I like to stay on top of trends and shoes are always an easy way to my heart.OK, so I took the marshmallow contest — but I don’t think I am that competitive. I want everyone to succeed and win. I just like goofing around and not taking myself too seriously all the time.
When I asked Shea about her dating circle, it was just an honest question as I continue to try to get to know her better. I didn’t mean to be insulting or rub her the wrong way. I was just curious to what her answer might be. I thought the make-over swap was a lot of fun. We were getting a little restless at the cabin and it gave us something to do! It was great to see Shea out of her element. And whether she admits it or not, I think she enjoyed it. I took a lot of pretty pics of her that night, and thus, her alter ego “Candy” was born.
Kellie has been through a lot in her life and I don’t think anyone can judge her for it. She is a great friend and a very honest person and I appreciate her so much for that. It’s unfortunate that she had to go through a miscarriage, but hopefully the future is bright with babies in her life. She deserves to have a child and I really hope it works out for her!
The meeting with the image consultant brought back some negative emotions I have experienced in my career. Early on, I was successful at a young age, and constantly had people trying to tear me down. I was forced to dress and act much older than I really was, and often times it was very uncomfortable me, because I never really felt like I could be myself. With my new job at 702.tv, I am finally in a place where I am accepted and embraced for who I am. And I felt like the image consultant was trying to take all of that back away from me.

Please don’t take this the wrong way.
When you are starting out, you have to follow the rules, toe the line and do whatever it takes to get established. You want to show your personal style, fine, just accent more conservative clothes.
That image consultant was SPOT ON. She wasn’t trying to tear you down (and your crying fit to a first time viewer, made me question if you were 16 years old!), rather she was doing everything she could to give you the tools to be successful.
If you go through life shutting down constructive advice, you’re going to be 40 and nowhere. She wasn’t taking it away from you.
Emily, if you go out there and poll 100 people by showing them a picture of you in a simple, classic outfit (say a Ralph Lauren) with one accent piece that shows your personal style and another picture of you with your full out, everyday over the top self and ask them what the woman in the picture conveys to them, they are going to tell you the one in the understated outfit seems more trustworthy.
One almost wonders what the heck happened to you as a kid that you fight back at anyone telling you you dress too flashy.
wow! I can’t believe the picture attached with this particular blog is you. You look beautiful. What’s with the GOBS of makeup you wear on the show? Less is definitely more where that is concerned. I think it’s great that you are getting out there and establishing your independence and career. I believe in the end your father will have total respect for you making your own career and living on your own. Be strong and continue to go for your dreams.
Emily, Wow, I just stumbled upon a website that had some photos of you by a recipe for a pomagranate martini that lead to another website of yours for Twitter and you look amazing! I guess by what I saw that you have told your parents long ago that you are permanently living in Las Vegas and are very happy there. Congratulations on your move and your job. You must have felt a huge weight had lifted off your shoulders when you told them. Please be super safe while you are in LV. I hope you will still be on SB in the future.
